Portrait of Evan Parker (Silver/Gold)
Portrait of Evan Parker (Silver/Gold) 16mm/B&W/Colour/Sound from neilhenderson on Vimeo.
I have posted this close-up of Evan Parker playing the soprano saxophone before, but it seems to have been on and off the net.
Let´s hope it stays put this time, since it seems like Neil Henderson, who uploaded the video on Vimeo, is the man behind the portrait.

Duos on Rune
I´m a bit late with these two albums on Rune Grammofon, but finally having had time to listen, consider this a recommendation of the two, and check them out yourselves!
And with great music, you are never too early or too late. True?
Evan Parker & Joe McPhee: "What/If/They Both Could Fly" (Rune 2013) is a recording from the Kongsberg Jazz Festival 2012, and you may even watch a few minutes from the concert in the video above.
James Plotkin & Paal Nilssen-Love: "Death Rattle" (Rune 2013) is a wild, raw and fantastic guitar - drum duo album! Just listen to the track "The Skin, The Colour", worth the money by itself!

What? No Evan Parker Biography?
I was hoping to read Peter Urpeth´s crowdfunded biography of Evan Parker in not too long.
The book, titled "The Intensity Of Purpose", has been mentioned in the blog a couple of times (see here, and The Wire too), but now it seems like the book failed to reach it´s goal over at Unbound (the publishing platform).
Let´s hope the book gets funded in one way or the other!

Evan Parker interviewed in The Quietus

Read "Complicated Sublimity: Evan Parker Interviewed" in The Quietus (17 July).
Let me steal the part on Robert Wyatt:
"The first recording I did with Robert was for [Canadian jazz-poet] Paul Haine's Darn It [a 1994 album recorded with a host of avant-garde luminaries] where I was just in the studio waiting for my turn to record and Robert suggested I play a solo as a coda to the setting he had done of one of Paul's poems. Later he invited me to play on Schleep. Robert loves the studio so much that he slept there while he was making that. I think he had 48 tracks to work with and there must have been many changes of mind as each layer was added. Robert was a friend from the days when we both lived in Twickenham. My two older sons used to call in on their way home from school to see him because he could play them the music they didn't hear at home. Last time I saw him was backstage at Ornette's Meltdown".
The picture of Evan Parker was taken at Moldejazz in 2008, after a concert with Townhouse Orchestra (Parker, Sandell, Håker Flaten, Nilssen-Love).

And please note, they play at Cafe Oto again February 5th.
Evan Parker and Eddie Prevost also appear on the album "Cinema" (Fataka 2013), with John Coxon (el. guitar, prepared piano).
Fataka seems like an interesting new record company.
